Breeding Season and Fees

  • Breeding season: Start: February 1, 2027 | End: August 31, 2027

  • Stud fee: Surcharge price in the auction € (plus VAT or valid VAT identification number) per mare 

  • Payment terms: Payment before semen shipment.

Scope of contract: This contract includes 1 insemination for a total amount of _______________.

  • Semen availability:

    • Breeding season 2027: Fresh semen and frozen semen available.

  • Repeat insemination: Should the mare die within at least 24 hours after birth or fail to produce a live foal, the mare owner has the right to inseminate this mare again during the 2027 breeding season. Frozen semen will be provided for this purpose.

  • Non-transferability: The mare owner acknowledges that the insemination and the semen are non-transferable and may not be resold or passed on to third parties without the written consent of the stallion owner.

Additional Fees

  1. Breeding season 2027:

    • One dose of fresh semen: €125.00

    • Health certificate outside Germany: €125.00

    • Transport costs: Depending on carrier, delivery time, and destination country

  2. Breeding season 2027 (frozen semen):

    • One dose of frozen semen: €125.00

    • Processing fee (incl. liquid nitrogen container rental): €150.00

    • Health certificate outside Germany: €125.00

    • Transport costs: Depending on carrier, delivery time, and destination country

Notes on returning the nitrogen container:

  • Return period: Within seven days.

  • Late return: €100.00 per day.

  • Loss of the container: €2,000.00.

The mare owner bears the shipping costs.

Payment terms

  • The breeding certificate will only be issued once all costs (stud fee and additional charges) have been paid in full.

  • The stallion owner provides the semen of the stallion named in this contract. The stallion owner, the agent, and Gestüt Osterhof assume no liability for the condition of the semen after it leaves the stud farm.

  • Responsibilities of the mare owner:

    • Storage and proper handling of the semen.

    • Insemination of the mare.

    • Correct completion and return of the semen report.
