Breeding Season and Fees

  • Breeding Season: Start: February 1, 2025 | End: August 31, 2025

  • Stud Fee: €2,500.00 (plus VAT or valid VAT identification number) per mare.

  • Payment Terms: Payment before semen dispatch.

Contract Scope: This contract covers 1 inseminations for a total amount of _______________.

  • Semen Availability:

    • Breeding Season 2025: Fresh semen and frozen semen available.

    • Breeding Season 2026: Only deep-frozen semen available.

  • Re-insemination: If the mare dies within at least 24 hours after birth or does not deliver a live foal, the mare owner has the right to re-inseminate this mare in the breeding season 2026. Frozen semen will be provided for this.

  • Non-transferability: The mare owner acknowledges that the insemination and semen are non-transferable and may not be resold or passed on to third parties without the written consent of the stallion owner.

Additional Fees

  1. Breeding Season 2025:

    • One Portion of Fresh Semen: €125.00

    • Health Certificate outside Germany: €125.00

    • Transport Costs: Depending on carrier, delivery time, and destination country

  2. Breeding Season 2026 (Deep-frozen Semen):

    • One Portion of Deep-frozen Semen: €125.00

    • Handling Fee (incl. nitrogen container rental): €125.00

    • Health certificate outside Germany: 125.00 €

    • Transport costs: Dependent on carrier, delivery time, and destination country

Notes on the return of the nitrogen container:

  • Return deadline: Within seven days.

  • Late return: 100.00 € per day.

  • Loss of the container: 2,000.00 €.

The shipping costs are borne by the mare owner.

Payment terms

  • The covering certificate will only be issued once all costs (covering fee and additional charges) are fully paid.

  • The stallion owner provides the semen of the stallion named in this contract. The stallion owner, the agent, and the Gestüt Osterhof assume no warranty for the quality of the semen after leaving the stud.

  • Responsibilities of the mare owner:

    • Storage and proper handling of the semen.

    • Insemination of the mare.

    • Correct completion and return of the semen report.
